The Great Acceleration

From 300 Million× to Intelligence Everywhere

Bernd Burgdorf
CEO / Founder · berndburgdorf.com GmbH · ADJURIS.CH
✦ You'll understand why AI is advancing so fast — and what the convergence of AI and life sciences means for Basel.
Learn more

300 million times faster. Numbers like this offer a glimpse of what happens when AI is applied to the process of discovery. AI is becoming an exponential technology: increasingly capable while simultaneously becoming more efficient and accessible. It is already accelerating scientific research, drug discovery, engineering and countless other fields. For Basel, this creates a remarkable opportunity — few places combine such a strong life-science ecosystem with the emerging capabilities of AI. At the same time, intelligence is moving beyond the cloud. Smaller, more efficient models can increasingly run directly on devices and machines, bringing AI closer to where data is created, with benefits for energy efficiency, privacy, security and resilience. So where does this acceleration lead? From scientific discovery and edge intelligence to autonomous systems and potentially AGI, we are entering a period of extraordinary possibility. This keynote explores where AI is heading — and what we can achieve if we learn to shape the acceleration rather than simply react to it. The future isn't something we wait for. It's something we get to build.

AI on Your Terms

AI is not just changing what software can do — it's changing who gets to shape it.

Şenol Taş
Managing Partner, Research & Development · Maravilla Labs
✦ You get a clear view behind the AI buzzwords — and know where an SME should actually start today.
Learn more

Agents. Copilots. Fine-tuning. Sovereign AI. Custom models. There is no shortage of new terminology, but behind the noise, something much more important is happening. For years, SMEs were told they needed to digitalise. Now AI has arrived before many have even finished that journey. So is the old digitalisation agenda still the right one? And if you were starting today, would you start in the same place? The answer may be surprising. AI is making capabilities accessible that, until recently, were reserved for large organisations: software that can understand company-specific knowledge, recognise what matters to a particular business, adapt to specialised tasks, and increasingly act across existing systems. That changes the question. Instead of asking only "Which AI tool should we use?", companies can start asking: what should our technology be able to do on our terms, and where should we begin? This keynote cuts through the buzzwords, explores some surprising real-world possibilities, and looks at what this shift means for SMEs, digital sovereignty, and the next generation of business software.

Your AI Sales Memory

How startups turn customer knowledge into a living system.

✦ Du machst aus verstreuten Notizen ein System, das dir die nächsten Schritte vorschlägt.
Learn more

Many startups lose valuable customer context in notes, emails, DMs and people's heads. In this session Georg Gusewski shows how that can become a living AI Sales Memory: a system that structures customer knowledge, surfaces sales signals and uses AI to suggest concrete next steps. Working through a practical example, he shows how leads, conversation notes, objections and follow-ups play together — and how AI supports better priorities and more personal communication. In short: it is not about more tools, but about a system that makes knowledge usable when it counts.

The AI-Native Startup

The most successful startups of the future will be built AI-native.

✦ Du setzt KI über den ganzen Gründungsprozess ein — von der Idee bis zur Skalierung.
Learn more

It's not the startups with the best AI that will win — it's those built AI-native from day one. The next generation of successful companies won't just use AI — they'll be built AI-native. In this interactive session, Bernd Burgdorf uses concrete examples and live demonstrations to show how modern AI transforms the entire startup process: from identifying real problems through ideation, business model design, market and competitive analysis, SWOT, prototyping and go-to-market, all the way to marketing, sales and scaling. Participants will learn a proven AI-native workflow that dramatically accelerates founding processes, enables better decisions, and achieves extraordinary results even with small teams.

Documents, finally intelligent!

AI turns documents into structured data. When the law changes, the system is already ready.

✦ Du siehst live, wie deine Ablage strukturiert und prüfbar wird, und warum dich die nächste Regulierung dann nicht mehr stresst.
Learn more

Documents are every company's memory — usually a dead one: PDFs, scans and mails nobody reads. DocuVisio is a Swiss document-intelligence platform that brings that memory back to life: it reads contracts, invoices and dossiers and turns them into structured, verifiable data with an audit trail. The point behind it: when laws change, systems have to be ready, not folders. The revised Swiss Anti-Money Laundering Act, in force five days after this event, is the perfect example — run your documents as data and you meet new due diligence and evidence obligations at the push of a button instead of in night shifts. In the demo we process prepared sample documents live — contracts, invoices and dossiers — and show honestly where AI is reliable, where it fails, and why the human stays the final authority. No slide deck, a real product. More: docuvisio.com

What does AI really deliver?

A decision aid on where AI makes sense — and where to keep your hands off it!!

✦ Erkennen Sie, wie Sie mit KI die Nase vorn haben!

AI can become a real competitive advantage or an expensive dead end. Why do some companies stay ahead while others get stuck in "we should, we could..."? Dr. Jan-Arne Gewert shows hands-on what matters for successful AI deployment.

Look Who's Talking

A live Turing test: can you still tell a human answer from an AI one?

👤 Roland Wagner, hofpause.de
✦ Du lernst den Original-Turing-Test kennen — und siehst, ob KI ihn heute besteht.
Learn more

Beforehand, a person and a suitably primed AI were given the same questions. The AI was told to simulate the person from their biographical data — and to lie where needed to sound as plausible as possible. The answers are read out and the audience votes online on who is human and who is AI. An open discussion then works through the results: what gave the AI away? What can we conclude from it? And does today's AI pass the 70-year-old Turing test?

What does AI have to do with coffee?

How old craft and artificial intelligence turn into a new kind of business — the live case

👤 Michel Laubscher, Edgewind GmbH · JUST A BEAN GmbH
✦ Du siehst an einer echten Kaffeemarke, was KI in einem kleinen Betrieb wirklich leistet — und wie du morgen selbst anfängst.
Learn more

Coffee is one of the world's oldest crafts: origin, roast, patience, taste. AI is a few years old. That contrast is exactly where something new grew in Liestal. At Just A Bean the coffee stays classic, roasted in Switzerland — everything around it is made with AI: every variety has its own AI-generated label artwork, every blend its own song via a QR code on the pack, and «JAB HITS VOL.1» is a full AI-made album on Spotify. Website, ad clips, newsletter: all AI-made, by one person, on a small budget. The coffee shop in the Hanro-Areal has become an AI Coffee House — specialty coffee by day, workshops for complete beginners in the evening. Michel «Mike» Laubscher tells that story honestly, with every example to look at and listen to, and shows live how a new coffee label and a song come together in minutes. Plus: what AI costs, where its limits are, and why the craft is still the boss. No prior knowledge needed. Just curiosity — and a taste for coffee.

Build your 1st AI agent today

Real agents from Swiss companies, then you build your own agent on your laptop in the same session.

We open with 2 live agents that are live at Swiss companies right now, across 2 different use cases. We will have some supporting slides but we will keep theory at a minimum. Then the room builds. Every participant gets an account and a starting template, and we walk the room while people configure an agent for their own use case. We close with two or three participants showing what they built.
